Ces rangs raccourcis sont utilisés dans plusieurs modèles dans le livre Madder Anthology 2 de Carrie Bostick Hoge. Ils peuvent remplacer d’autres types de rangs raccourcis, et j’avoue que depuis que j’ai appris cette technique simple, c’est celle que j’utilise systématiquement. Pour moi, le résultat est net et beaucoup moins visible qu’avec d’autres techniques. Essayez pour voir ce que vous en pensez !
These short rows are used in several patterns in the book Madder Anthology 2 by Carrie Bostick Hoge. They can of course also replace other short row techniques, and I must admit that I now use this technique almost exclusively. To me, Carol Sunday’s technique produces a much neater and less visible result than other types of short rows. Try them to see what you think!
1 : Faire le rang raccourci
1: Marking the short row
Sur l’endroit :
On the right side:
Tricoter jusqu’à la fin du rg raccourci. Vous devez tricoter la maille après laquelle vous allez tourner. Tournez ensuite votre travail normalement.
Knit to the end of the short row, including the stitch after which you will turn. Turn work as usual.
Prenez une longueur de fil lisse de couleur contrastante et posez-le à cheval sur le fil de la pelote.
Take a piece of waste yarn in a contrasting colour, and place it over the working yarn.
Tricotez la maille (à l’envers, puisque vous avez tourné le travail). Si vous tirez sur le fil de couleur contrastante, vous pouvez dégager la boucle du fil de la pelote qui entoure la maille à sa base. Mais on la laisse là pour l’instant !
Purl the first stitch on the left hand needle. If you pull on your waste yarn, the loop around the stitch at the end of the short row becomes visible. Leave it alone for now!
Continuez à tricoter. Le fil qui sert de repère reste tranquillement à la base de la maille à la fin du rang raccourci.
Continue working. The waste yarn that serves as marker sits quietly at the bottom of the last stitch in the short row.
Sur l’envers :
On the wrong side:
Tricotez jusqu’à la fin du rang raccourci, donc y compris la maille après laquelle vous devez tourner. Posez une autre longueur de fil lisse de couleur contrastante à cheval sur le fil de la pelote.
Purl to the end of the short row, including the stitch just before turning. Put another piece of wast yarn over the working yarn.
Tournez le travail et continuez le rang sur l’endroit.
Turn and continue working on the right side.

2: Resolving the short rows
C’est là qu’on récupère nos mailles laissées en attente.

Sur l’endroit :
On the right side:
Tricotez jusqu’à la fin du rang raccourci, y compris la dernière maille, c’est-à-dire celle qui a un fil de couleur contrastante à sa base. Tirez sur les deux extrémités de cette longueur de fil pour faire apparaître une boucle. Glissez cette boucle sur l’aiguille de gauche.
Knit to the end of the short row, including the last, marked stitch. Pull on both ends of the waste yarn to make the loop visible. Place the loop on the left needle.
Enlevez le fil de couleur contrastante, et tricoter la boucle avec la maille suivante, celle qui se trouve à la flèche.
Remove the waste yarn and knit the loop together with the next stitch (the one at the arrow).
Continuez à tricoter normalement à l’endroit, et admirez le résultat. La boucle récupérée, qui ferme le trou à la fin du rang raccourci, se trouve sur l’arrière du tricot.
Continue working your row, and admire the result.

Il y a une petite étape de plus, pour que la boucle récupérée se retrouve sur l’envers où elle ne dérange personne.
There is an extra step to ensure that the loop that you pull up with the waste yarn will settle on the wrong side of the work, where it won’t bother anyone.
Tricotez jusqu’à la fin du rang raccourci, y compris la maille marquée par le fil contrastant à sa base. Glissez la maille suivante sur l’aiguille de droite.
Purl to the end of the short row, including the marked stitch. Slip the next stitch to the right needle.
Comme avant, tirez sur les deux extrémités du fil de couleur contrastante et placez la boucle ainsi récupérée sur l’aiguille de gauche. Remettez la maille glissée sur l’aiguille de gauche. Elle se trouve maintenant juste avant la boucle récupérée.
As previously, pull on both ends of the waste yarn and place the loop on the left needle. Return the slipped stitch to the left needle. It now sits just before the loop.
Tricotez la maille glissée et la boucle récupérée ensemble à l’envers.
Purl the slipped stitch and the loop together.
Continuez le rang et …
Continue working and…
… retournez pour admirer !
… turn to admire!
